Creating a Domain
When setting up your 802.1x network, you must first specify a domain name and promote your server to domain controller. For information about how to perform these steps, see the Windows 2000 Server Help.
The steps of this process are written with the following assumptions:
- You have installed Windows 2000 Server and Service Pack 3 or later on TESTSERVER.
- You have Administrator rights to configure your server.
- You have obtained the Media Access Control (MAC) address for each of the four access points. To obtain the MAC address for your access points, consult the product-specific documentation.
To create a parent domain
From Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs, and then choose Add/Remove Windows Components.
The Windows Components Wizard appears.
