Requirements to Use AppLocker

This topic for the IT professional lists software requirements to use AppLocker in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 and Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8.
Requirements using Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7
AppLocker is available in the following editions of Windows:
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter
Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-Based Systems
Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows 7 Enterprise
To use AppLocker, you need:
- A computer running an operating system in the preceding list to create the rules. The computer can be a domain controller.
Note
Windows 7 Professional can be used to create AppLocker rules, but the rules cannot be enforced on computers running Windows 7 Professional.
For Group Policy deployment, at least one computer with the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) or Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) installed to host the AppLocker rules.
Computers running an operating system in the preceding list to enforce the AppLocker rules that you create.
Requirements using Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8
AppLocker is available in the following editions of Windows:
Windows Server 2012 Standard
Windows Server 2012 Datacenter
Windows 8 Enterprise
To use AppLocker, you need:
