The Connection Manager Administration Kit Wizard
The Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) wizard guides you through the process of building service profiles that exactly meet your business needs. Before you can build these profiles, you must install the CMAK wizard.
New features in the CMAK wizard
The CMAK wizard offers many new features, including some that help you do the following:
provide routing table updates that apply only while clients are connected to your server ("split tunneling")
Automatically configure Internet Explorer proxy settings for a client computer
Enable clients to choose which virtual private network (VPN) server to use when they connect
Include a pre-shared key for L2TP/IPSec authentication
Encrypt a pre-shared key profile with a personal identification number (PIN) that the user must type in before the profile can be installed
Additionally, the CMAK wizard gives you greater customization and control when you build the service profile, including:
More types of custom actions and full configuration of all custom actions from within the wizard
An advanced customization pane in which you can edit .cms and .cmp files as the profile is built
Improved interface and text throughout the wizard
Differences from earlier versions of the CMAK wizard
If you have used an earlier version of the CMAK wizard, you should be aware of the following issues:
If you have upgraded your operating system, you might have to manually migrate some profile files.
If you have manually edited the .inf file of a profile created with an earlier version of the CMAK wizard, you must reapply the edits to the .inf file if you change the profile with the current version of the CMAK wizard.
You can no longer use the CMAK wizard to incorporate an animation in your service profile.
If you add a program under the [RunPostSetupCommandsSection] of the .inf file of your profile, you must add the file as an additional file when you edit the profile with the CMAK wizard.
Installing the CMAK wizard
To install Connection Manager components, including the CMAK wizard, on a computer running a member of the Windows Server 2003 family:
Open the Windows Components wizard.
In Components, click Management and Monitoring Tools (but do not select or clear the check box), and then click Details.
Select the Connection Manager Administration Kit check box.
Click OK, click Next, and then click Finish.

To open the Windows Components Wizard, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove programs, and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.
Certain Windows components require configuration before they can be used. If you installed one or more of these components but did not configure them, when you click Add/Remove Windows Components, a list of components that need to be configured is displayed. To start the Windows Components Wizard, click Components.
To install the CMAK wizard on a computer running Windows XP Professional, you must install the Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack. To install the Administration Tools Pack:
Insert the installation CD for a member of the Windows Server 2003 family into the CD-ROM drive of the computer running Windows XP Professional.
Click Perform additional tasks.
Click Browse this CD.
Double-click the I386 folder.
Double-click the Adminpk.msi file and follow the instructions on your screen.
Starting the CMAK wizard
To start the CMAK Wizard, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and double-click Connection Manager Administration Kit.
