Notes

  • To open WINS, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click WINS.

  • You can also set the WINS database backup path while performing a backup. For more information, see Related Topics.

  • There is not a default database backup path, and database backups do not occur by default. After a database backup path is set, backups occur every twenty four hours.

  • When you choose a backup folder location by typing a path or using the Browse button, WINS automatically adds two subfolders to the path, Wins_bak and New. For example, if you type C:\Backups, the folder where WINS stores the backup database is C:\Backups\Wins_bak\New.

  • This procedure describes how to specify the path that WINS uses when backing up the database. It does not set the path used by WINS to store the primary database on the applicable server. For more information, see Related Topics.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
