Editing MIME Types for a Web site or directory
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1
If you need to make changes to MIME types recognized by a particular Web site or directory, you can edit them at the Web site or directory level in IIS.
Procedures
Important
You must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer to perform the following procedure or procedures. As a security best practice, log on to your computer by using an account that is not in the Administrators group, and then use the runas command to run IIS Manager as an administrator. At a command prompt, type runas /user:Administrative_AccountName "mmc %systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\iis.msc".
To edit a MIME type for a Web site or directory
In IIS Manager, right-click the Web site or Web site directory for which you want to add a MIME type, and click Properties.
Click the HTTP Headers tab.
Click MIME Types.
Select the item you want to edit from the Registered MIME types (file extensions) list.
Click Edit.
Edit the information in the Extension and MIME type boxes as necessary.
Click OK.
