Installing a New Domain Tree

Use the following procedures as necessary to install a new domain tree. These procedures apply to Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2:

To avoid application compatibility problems, verify that the domain naming master operations master role is hosted on a domain controller that runs either Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2008 R2 before you begin. If you are installing the first Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controller in the forest, run the adprep /forestprep command. For more information, see Prepare a Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 Forest Schema for a Domain Controller That Runs Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
