View a List of Applications in a Site (IIS 7)

IIS Manager provides a list of all applications in a site from which you can view important information, such as the physical path of an application's content, or the application pool to which an application belongs.

Note

IIS Manager does not display a site's root application on the Applications page. To edit configuration settings for the root application, you must make changes at the site level in IIS Manager. For more information about root applications, see Managing Applications in IIS 7.

To view a list of applications in a site

You can perform this procedure by using the user interface (UI), by running Appcmd.exe commands in a command-line window, by editing configuration files directly, or by writing WMI scripts.

User Interface

To use the UI

  1. Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).

  2. In Features View, in the Actions pane on the siteHome page, click View Applications.

Command Line

To view a list of applications in a site, use the following syntax:

**appcmd list app /site.name:**string

The variable site.namestring is the name of the site for which you want to view a list of applications.

For example, to list the applications in a site named contoso, type the following at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:

appcmd list app /site.name:contoso
