Event ID 1007 — TS Session Broker Server Availability

The Terminal Services Session Broker (TS Session Broker) server relies on the Terminal Services Session Broker service to be running in order to perform session load balancing between terminal servers in a farm, and to reconnect a user to an existing session in a load-balanced terminal server farm.

Note: TS Session Broker was formerly called Terminal Services Session Directory.

Resolve

Create folder specified in the registry or delete the registry entry

To resolve this issue, do one of the following:

  • Create the folder that is specified in the WorkingDirectory registry entry.
  • Delete the WorkingDirectory registry entry.

To perform these tasks, refer to the following sections.

Create the folder that is specified in the WorkingDirectory registry entry

To perform this procedure on the TS Session Broker server, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To create the folder specified:

Caution:  Incorrectly editing the registry might severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data.

  1. On the TS Session Broker server, open Registry Editor. To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
  3. Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tssdis\Parameters registry subkey.
  4. In the right-pane, locate the WorkingDirectory entry, and then view the value for the entry in the Data column.
  5. Using Windows Explorer, create the folder that is referenced in the WorkingDirectory registry entry.

After you have created the folder, restart the Terminal Session Broker service. To restart the Terminal Services Session Broker service, see the section titled "Restart the Terminal Services Session Broker service."

Delete the WorkingDirectory registry entry

To perform this procedure on the TS Session Broker server, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To delete the registry entry:

Caution:  Incorrectly editing the registry might severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data.

  1. On the TS Session Broker server, open Registry Editor. To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
  3. Locate the **HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tssdis\Parameters **registry subkey.
  4. In the right-pane, right-click the WorkingDirectory entry, and then click Delete.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

After you have deleted the registry entry, restart the Terminal Services Session Broker service.

Restart the Terminal Services Session Broker service

To perform this procedure on the TS Session Broker server, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To restart the service:

  1. On the TS Session Broker server, open the Services snap-in. To open the Services snap-in, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
  3. In the Services pane, right-click Terminal Services Session Broker, and then click Restart.
  4. Confirm that the Status column for the Terminal Services Session Broker service displays Started.

Verify

To verify that the TS Session Broker server is available, ensure that the Terminal Services Session Broker service is running.

To perform this procedure, you must have membership in the local Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

To check the Terminal Services Session Broker service:

  1. On the TS Session Broker server, open the Services snap-in. To open the Services snap-in, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and then click Continue.
  3. In the Services pane, locate Terminal Services Session Broker.
  4. Confirm that the Status column for the Terminal Services Session Broker service displays Started.
