You Receive a 'Message Queuing application is Running' Error While Uninstalling Message Queuing

This problem typically occurs when a Message Queuing application is running while you are attempting to remove Message Queuing features. You are unable to complete the removal of Message Queuing features and the error "Message Queuing application is running" is displayed.

Diagnosis

Message Queuing features cannot be removed while any Message Queuing applications are running.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, stop any Message Queuing applications and stop the Message Queuing services on the local computer.

To stop the Message Queuing service on the local computer

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools and then click Services to display the Services MMC console.

  2. Right-click the Message Queuing Triggers service and click Stop.

  3. Right-click the Message Queuing service and click Stop.

Verification

After stopping Message Queuing services, use the Remove Features Wizard in Server Manager to uninstall Message Queuing features.
