Event ID 24595 — BitLocker Volume Conversion
Applies To: Windows Server 2008
In BitLocker parlance, the term "conversion" refers to either encrypting or to decrypting an entire volume. Encryption of the entire volume occurs when BitLocker is enabled for that volume. Decryption occurs if an administrator chooses the Decrypt the drive option when turning off BitLocker from the BitLocker Control panel or uses the disable option from the manage-bde command-line tool.

BitLocker Drive Encryption cannot work correctly if the computer hardware is malfunctioning or the disk contains excessive bad sectors or logical errors. To correct this situation, use the chkdsk tool to check and repair a disk, or replace any malfunctioning hardware.
To perform this procedure, you must have membership in Administrators, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
To use the chkdsk tool to check and repair a disk:
- Click Start.
- Type cmd in the Start Search box.
- Right-click cmd.exe in the Programs section of the search results.
- Click Run as administrator.
- If the User Account Control prompt appears, verify the displayed action is what you requested, and then click Continue.
- At the elevated command prompt, type chkdsk c: /R where c: is the drive being encrypted.
If chkdsk is unable to repair the problems, contact your hardware vendor or hardware maintenance organization for assistance.
