Peer Caching Cache
Applies To: Windows Server 2008
The peer caching cache maintains a copy of the files that the BITS client has downloaded as part of a job that allows peer caching. The peer caching server makes this data available to other computers for which peer caching is enabled.
Aspects
The following is a list of all aspects that are part of this managed entity:
Name | Description |
---|---|
In order for BITS to download content from a peer server, data in the peer cache on that server must not be corrupted. If data in the peer cache is corrupted and BITS encounters an error while reading the peer cache, BITS will attempt to delete the cache, and then recreate the cache to handle future requests. If this attempt is not successful, the cache might have to be manually cleared. |

In order for BITS to cache downloaded content, peer caching must be enabled for the BITS peer caching server by a domain administrator. |
