Take Outgoing Queues Offline

Use this procedure to take outgoing Message Queuing queues offline.

You can use this procedure to take outgoing Message Queuing queues offline. Take outgoing queues offline to pause the operation of all outgoing queues on the local computer.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To take outgoing Message Queuing queues offline

  1. Click Start, point to Run, type compmgmt.msc, and press ENTER to display the Computer Management MMC console.

  2. In the console tree, right-click Message Queuing.

    Where?

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Message Queuing
  3. Point to All Tasks, and do one of the following:

    • To take Message Queuing offline from the network, click Take Message Queuing Offline.

    • To bring Message Queuing back online, click Bring Message Queuing Online.

  4. When prompted, click Yes.

Additional considerations

  • When you take Message Queuing offline from the network, you pause the operation of all outgoing queues on the local computer. This is useful when you communicate over a slow, expensive connection and want to defer sending messages in all outgoing queues on the computer to a later time.

  • You can also pause the operation of a single outgoing queue. For more information, see Additional references.

  • This task can be performed only by using the Computer Management snap-in.
