Enable or Disable a Tape or Disk
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista
To complete this procedure, you need the appropriate administrative credentials for the affected Removable Storage item. To maintain system security, rather than logging on as an administrator, log on as a user without administrative credentials and then run Removable Storage with administrative credentials.
To run Removable Storage with administrative credentials
Open a command prompt with administrative credentials. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then point to Run as administrator.
Provide administrative credentials for an account in the Administrators group, and then click Submit. A command prompt with administrative credentials opens.
At the command prompt, type mmc.exe.
Enable or disable a tape or disk
To enable or disable a tape or disk
Ensure that Removable Storage is in Full view.
Click Libraries in the console tree, and then click the tape or disk.
In the details pane, right-click the tape or disk, and then click Properties.
On the Media tab, verify that the Enable media check box is selected. Or, to disable the tape or disk, clear the check box.
