Prerequisites

For information about the levels at which you can perform this procedure, and the modules, handlers, and permissions that are required to perform this procedure, see .NET Profile Feature Requirements (IIS 7).

Exceptions to feature requirements

  • None

To edit a .NET profile property

You can perform this procedure by using the user interface (UI), by running Appcmd.exe commands in a command-line window, by editing configuration files directly, or by writing WMI scripts.

User Interface

To Use the UI

  1. Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).

  2. In Features View, double-click .NET Profile.

  3. On the .NET Profile page, select the .NET profile property that you want to change.

  4. In the Actions pane, click Edit.

  5. In the Edit .NET Profile Property dialog box, edit settings as necessary, and then click OK.

Command line

To change the data type for a .NET profile property, use the following syntax:

**appcmd set config /commit:MACHINE /section: profile /properties. [name='string'].type:**string

The variable name string is the name of the property that you want to change. The variable **type:**string is the new data type for the property.

Edit default value

To change the default value for a .NET profile property, use the following syntax:

**appcmd set config /commit:MACHINE /section: profile /properties. [name='string'].defaultValue:**string

The variable name string is the name of the property that you want to change. The variable **defaultValue:**string is the new value with which the property will be initialized.

Change serialization formatter

To change the serialization formatter for a .NET profile property, use the following syntax:

appcmd set config /commit:MACHINE /section: profile /properties. [name='string'].serializeAs:String|Xml|Binary|ProviderSpecific

The variable name string is the name of the property that you want to change. The variable **serializeAs:**string is the serialization formatter for the property.

Edit readOnly property

To change whether a profile property can be modified, use the following syntax:

appcmd set config /commit:MACHINE /section: profile /properties. [name='string'].readOnly:True|False

The variable name string is the name of the property that you want to change. The variable readOnly:True|False sets whether the property can be modified.

Edit anonymous access
