Use this procedure to manage Message Queuing queues using Active Directory Users and Computers.

You can use this procedure to manage Message Queuing queues using Active Directory Users and Computers.

Membership in <Domain>\Domain Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To manage Message Queuing queues using Active Directory Users and Computers

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.

  2. On the View menu, click Users, Groups, and Computers as containers, and then click Advanced Features.

  3. In the console tree, right-click the applicable queue.

    Where?

    • Active Directory Users and Computers/YourDomain/YourOrganizationalUnit (such as Computers or Domain Controllers)/*YourComputer/*msmq/YourQueueFolder (such as Private Queues for a private queue)/YourQueue/YourMessage
  4. Complete the desired task as you would using Computer Management.

Additional considerations

  • This method can be used only if the local computer belongs to a Windows Server 2008 family domain, a Windows Server 2003 family domain, or a Windows 2000 domain and can contact a domain controller.

  • You can create, delete, and change the properties of public queues on remote computers using the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in only if you have domain administrative permissions and are logged on using a domain user account.
