Add a Site Object and Servers Container

You can use this procedure to add a site object and services container

Membership in Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To add an AD LDS site object and servers container

  1. Open Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) Edit and connect and bind to the configuration directory partition of an AD LDS instance in the configuration set for which you want to create a site. For more information, see Manage an AD LDS Instance Using ADSI Edit.

  2. In the console tree, double-click the configuration directory partition (**CN=Configuration,CN={**GUID}), right-click the sites container (CN=Sites), point to New, and then click Object.

  3. In Select a class, click site, and then click Next.

  4. In Value, type a common name (CN) for the new site, and then click Next.

  5. To set values for additional attributes, click More attributes, set any additional attribute values, and then click Finish.

  6. In the console tree, double-click the sites container (CN=Sites).

  7. In the console tree, right-click the new site, point to New, and then click Object.

  8. In Select a class, click serversContainer, and then click Next.

Note

To add AD LDS instances to a site, the site must have a servers container into which the AD LDS instances can be added.

  1. In Value, type a common name (CN) for the server container, and then click Next.

  2. To set values for additional attributes, click More attributes, and then set any additional attribute values.

  3. After setting all desired attributes for the servers container, click Finish.
