Finding Domain Controllers and Global Catalogs with DNS

This topic explains how to use the Active Directory module for Windows PowerShell to find the domain controllers or global catalog servers by using Domain Name System (DNS).

The following example demonstrates how to find the global catalog servers in a forest by using DNS:
Get-ADDomainController -Discover [-AvoidSelf] [-Writable] [-DomainName <String>] [-ForceDiscover] [-NextClosestSite] [-Service <ADDiscoverableService[]>] [-MinimumDirectoryServiceVersion <ADMinimumDirectoryServiceVersion>] [-SiteName <String>]
