Add Connection Dialog Box

Use the Add Connection dialog box to create a custom connection to a database.

Connection name |
Type an easily recognizable name for the connection, such as Sql Staging Server. |
Database provider |
Select the name of the server that hosts the database from the drop-down list. For example, to connect to a SQL Server 2005 or 2008 database, select System.Data.SqlClient. |
Server |
Type the name of the server that hosts the database. |
Database |
Type the name of the database. |
User ID |
Type the user name to use to connect to the database. |
Password |
Type the password for the specified user name. |
Warning
Settings for IIS DB Manager, including DB Manager connections, are stored locally as part of your user preferences for IIS Manager. Thus, if you create a connection locally on a server and later connect to that server by using the IIS Manager that is on a remote computer, any changes you make to the connection will be stored on the computer that you are using, and not on the server where you first created the connection.
