Edit Logging Fields Dialog Box
Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista
Use the Edit Logging Fields dialog box to update the list of logging fields that are available for adding to log definitions. You can sort the list of logging fields by clicking a list column heading or by selecting a value in the Group by drop-down list to group similar items.
UI Element List
Element Name | Description | ||

ID |
A friendly name for the logging field. This value is used as the logging field name when it is displayed in logging field lists in the Advanced Logging feature. |

Source Name |
The name of the source that provides the information for the logging field. For example, if the Source type is a performance counter, the name of the performance counter. |

Source Type |
The source of information for the logging field. Information can be provided from the following source types:

Category |
For logging fields that you add, the name of a related set of logging fields to which the logging field belongs. This allows you to sort the list of logging fields by clicking the Category column heading in the list or by selecting Category in the Group by drop-down list.

Header name |
The unique identifier of the logging field. The identifier is included in the #Fields directive in the log file header. |

Add Field |
Opens the Add Logging Field dialog box, in which you can make custom logging fields available to log definitions. |

Edit Field |
Opens the Edit Logging Field dialog box, in which you can update the properties for the selected logging field. The logging fields with the Built-In source type cannot be edited. |
||
Remove |
Removes the selected logging field from the list. Logging fields that you remove are not available for adding to log definitions. Note Logging fields that you remove from the logging fields list should also be removed from any log definitions that use them so that they will continue to function correctly.
