Microsoft Exchange 12 Beta 1 is Here!
Today we today announced the release of Microsoft Exchange 12 Beta 1 — the code name for the next version of Exchange. To get nore information about Exchange 12, and Outlook 12 — the code name for the next version of Outlook, visit, https://www.microsoft.com/exchange/preview/default.mspx.
We also released a FAQ on Exchange 12 that you might find interesting, as well as an overview of the value proposition for Exchange 12.
Beta 1 is a private beta, but there will be opportunities to preview and evaluate Exchange 12 during 2006. Until then, stay tuned to this blog, and of course, the Exchange Team blog, for more information.

If you mean does the Client Access Server (formerly, the front-end server) need to be a member of the domain, then Yes, in Exchange Server 2007 that has not changed. If you are referring to the OWA user, then they only need a mailbox-enabled account in the domain. The machine from which they use OWA does not need to be a member of a domain.
