Management Reporter CU8 released!

Hi everyone, This is my first CPM blog and I get the pleasure of announcing the release of Management Reporter 2012 CU8. This release, which has been posted for download, includes currency translation within the data mart for Dynamics GP 2013 customers, side by side report layouts, additional formatting options, and more.

Here’s a summary of the new Management Reporter CU8 features:

  • Dynamic calculated column headers…no more hard coding of Months within the column definition. This feature received 55 votes on Microsoft Connect, thanks for continuing to submit product suggestions.
  • Currency translation for Dynamics GP 2013 using DDM Data Mart provider
  • Ability to create a side by side balance sheet by using a section break option in row definition. This feature received 65 votes on Microsoft Connect.
  • Additional attributes added for Dynamics AX integration to support country specific localizations
  • Triangle symbol to indicate negative balances; needed for specific geographies but available for all
  • Option to include line numbers on generated reports
  • Translation support for XBRL configuration
  • Ability to set all columns in definition to Autofit by default
  • Collection of Excel formatting improvements (50 votes on Microsoft Connect across)
  • Additional fixes for product defects

We’ll provide more details on these features in subsequent blog posts. You can find the download of Management Reporter CU8 at the following links:

Where can I find what the Collection of Excel formatting improvments contains, specifically, are you able to export the formulas now like you could with FRx?

Is it true that the currency translation using the Data Mart is only available in  Web viewer as written in Management Reporter Integration Guide for Microsoft Dynamics® GP guide ?

Implementation of the "Effective Dates" feature from FRx has 151 votes on Microsoft Connect at current count.  Please schedule it for CU9. connect.microsoft.com/.../management-reporter-mr-add-support-for-effective-dates connect.microsoft.com/.../management-reporter-effective-dates connect.microsoft.com/.../effective-dating connect.microsoft.com/.../option-effective-date-in-management-reporter connect.microsoft.com/.../effective-dates connect.microsoft.com/.../need-to-added-effective-dates-option-for-building-blocks-row-columns-trees

Biggest miss right now is still the Row Format switch on the trees in my opinion.  Several clients have refused to upgrade GP or FRx at all until this feature reappears.

I am still looking for fixes in MR with regard to GP Clients who are on Account Level Services.  It was not fixed in CU7.  I was hoping that this was fixed in CU8.

Hi, Where can I find a worked example of the configuration settings - I am trying to complete clean install into AX CU7 demo image - and can't seem to find the right combination of ports etc. I have AOS Service Port = 8101, AOS Port 2712 and Application Service Port = 4712 and get "....error querying metadata service..." The associated log reports... "An exception of type MetdataException has occurred while performing the operation. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Deployment.DataProvider.AX.AX2012MetadataService.BatchFault)." Any ideas - the respective installation/config guides don't help.

Hi - When will be the feature available for MR to be able to email a report link where it DOES NOT call MS Outlook. We've had customers who do not use outlook and this was of the issues they face. Or is there a way for MR to use an SMTP configuration like in AX instead of calling an email client? Thanks!

    Is this compatible with AX2009?

Carl, Yes, it is compatible. The AX provider guide on the Management Reporter install page now states what minimum version of AX 2009 and AX 2012 you must be on to use CU8.

We are having a continued problem with Management Report  Writer.  We have certain JE's and Sales documents in GP that update the GL balance in GP , but those transactions are not reflected on the reports generated in Management Report Writer.  They are definitely POSTED transactions.  Can you give me any clues? Thank you mmucci@vantagehospitality.com

@mmucci@vantagehospitality.com Are you using Management Reporter CU8? If so, I'd suggest moving up to CU11. We've added additional data validation in subsequent releases that may help you to determine why you are experiencing the issue you describe.

Some people are stuck on CU8 because support for Windows Server 2003 was dropped a year and half before the OS's actual EOL.
