Configuring the Business Application Clients

This section provides instructions about how to install and access the Business Management applications on computers that are used by business users. Business Management applications run by accessing the Web services that you install on the business management server or other Commerce Server single server deployment.

Note

You must have administrator permissions on the computer where you install the Business Management applications. Log on to the operating system under a user account that has local administrator permissions.

Perform the following tasks to install the Business Management applications.

Note

The following task sequence assumes that the business user computer is already connected to a network.

  1. Install all prerequisite software. For more information, see What Are the Software Deployment Requirements?

  2. Install the Business Management applications on the business user computer. For more information, see How to Install the Business Management Applications.

  3. Create business user groups that support the business needs of the organization and that limit access to Commerce Server data by function. For more information, see What Are the Accounts and Groups to Create?

  4. Create a domain account for the business user. For more information, see How to Create a Domain Account in Active Directory.

  5. Add the business user domain account to the business user groups that provide access to the Business Management applications that the business user needs to access. For more information, see How to Add Business User Accounts to Active Directory Groups.

  6. Have the business user access the Business Management applications. For more information, see How to Access the Business Management Applications.

Note

The Business Management applications will not be functional until you configure the business management server and perform all secure deployment tasks. The Business Management applications access the Web services installed on the business management server. For more information, see Configuring the Business Management Server.

For information about how to use the Business Management applications, see Concepts and Tools for Business Users.
