Internet Feature Control Keys

Here is a reference to Internet feature controls (also called feature control keys), which are Registry keys that manage individual features Windows Internet Explorer and applications hosting the WebBrowser Control control. Each version of Internet Explorer introduces changes designed to enhance the browsing experience, improve support for widely-supported industry standards, and to improve security. The default values provide a secure environment for browsing the Web. Some improvements may change behavior that, for whatever reason, organizations may rely on for business purposes. No single configuration fits all situations and feature controls allow you to make informed decisions about the configuration of Internet Explorer and applications hosting the WebBrowser Control.

In general, changes designed to weaken the security of Internet Explorer or applications hosting the WebBrowser Control should only be made when the implications and risks of such changes are fully understood. If you are unsure of the safety or wisdom of a given configuration change, we strongly recommend against making the change.
