Methods

  Name Description
Public method AddHandler Adds a routed event handler for a specified routed event, adding the handler to the handler collection on the current element. Specify handledEventsToo as true to have the provided handler be invoked for routed event that had already been marked as handled by another element along the event route. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Public method Arrange Positions child objects and determines a size for a UIElement. Parent objects that implement custom layout for their child elements should call this method from their layout override implementations to form a recursive layout update. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Protected method ArrangeOverride Provides the behavior for the Arrange pass of Silverlight layout. Classes can override this method to define their own Arrange pass behavior. (Inherited from FrameworkElement.)
Public method CaptureMouse Sets mouse capture to a UIElement. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Public method CheckAccess Determines whether the calling thread has access to this object. (Inherited from DependencyObject.)
Public method ClearValue Clears the local value of a dependency property. (Inherited from DependencyObject.)
Public method Equals(Object) Determines whether the specified Object is equal to the current Object. (Inherited from Object.)
Protected method Finalize Allows an object to try to free resources and perform other cleanup operations before the Object is reclaimed by garbage collection. (Inherited from Object.)
Public method FindName Retrieves an object that has the specified identifier name. (Inherited from FrameworkElement.)
Public method GetAnimationBaseValue Returns any base value established for a Silverlight dependency property, which would apply in cases where an animation is not active. (Inherited from DependencyObject.)
Public method GetBindingExpression Retrieves the BindingExpression for a dependency property where a binding is established. (Inherited from FrameworkElement.)
Public method GetHashCode Serves as a hash function for a particular type. (Inherited from Object.)
Public method GetType Gets the Type of the current instance. (Inherited from Object.)
Public method GetValue Returns the current effective value of a dependency property from a DependencyObject. (Inherited from DependencyObject.)
Public method InvalidateArrange Invalidates the arrange state (layout) for a UIElement. After the invalidation, the UIElement will have its layout updated, which will occur asynchronously. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Public method InvalidateMeasure Invalidates the measurement state (layout) for a UIElement. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Public method InvokeScript(String) Executes the specified script, which is defined in the currently loaded HTML.
Public method InvokeScript(String, array<String[]) Executes the specified script function, which is defined in the currently loaded HTML, with the specified arguments.
Public method Measure Updates the DesiredSize of a UIElement. Typically, objects that implement custom layout for their layout children call this method from their own MeasureOverride implementations to form a recursive layout update. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Protected method MeasureOverride Provides the behavior for the Measure pass of Silverlight layout. Classes can override this method to define their own Measure pass behavior. (Inherited from FrameworkElement.)
Protected method MemberwiseClone Creates a shallow copy of the current Object. (Inherited from Object.)
Public method Navigate Loads the HTML content at the specified URI.
Public method NavigateToString Displays the specified HTML content.
Public method OnApplyTemplate When overridden in a derived class, is invoked whenever application code or internal processes (such as a rebuilding layout pass) call ApplyTemplate. In simplest terms, this means the method is called just before a UI element displays in an application. For more information, see Remarks. (Inherited from FrameworkElement.)
Protected method OnCreateAutomationPeer When implemented in a derived class, returns class-specific AutomationPeer implementations for the Silverlight automation infrastructure. (Inherited from UIElement.)

Public method SetValue Sets the local value of a dependency property on a DependencyObject. (Inherited from DependencyObject.)
Public method ToString Returns a string that represents the current object. (Inherited from Object.)
Public method TransformToVisual Returns a transform object that can be used to transform coordinates from the UIElement to the specified object. (Inherited from UIElement.)
Public method UpdateLayout Ensures that all positions of child objects of a UIElement are properly updated for layout. (Inherited from UIElement.)

Remarks

The WebBrowser control is intended for use in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser application or in a Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted application. When you use a WebBrowser control in an application that runs inside a browser in partial trust, a rectangle the same size as the WebBrowser control will display instead of the WebBrowser and its content. For more information about how to run an application outside the browser, see How to: Configure an Application for Out-of-Browser Support. For more information about trusted in-browser applications, see How to: Enable Trusted Applications to Run Inside the Browser.

You should always set the Height and Width of the WebBrowser control, as its default Height and Width are 0.

You can specify the HTML content to display in the WebBrowser control in a number of ways.

  • Call the NavigateToString(String) method and pass a string that contains the HTML content you want to display.

  • Set the Source property to a fully qualified or relative URI.

  • Call the Navigate(Uri) method and pass a fully qualified or relative URI for the HTML content you want to display.

In addition, you can call scripts in the HTML content by calling the InvokeScript(String) method and passing the name of the script you want to execute. You can use the ScriptNotify method of the Window.External object to communicate from JavaScript in the HTML to managed code. The ScriptNotify event occurs when this happens.

NoteNote:

The WebBrowser displays HTML content in applications running in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser applications or in Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted applications only. When using the WebBrowser control in applications hosted in a partial-trust browser environment, the control will display as a rectangle the same size as the WebBrowser control.

All content displayed in the WebBrowser control must be the same schema; http or https. If you host content in an <iframe>, all the regular security rules for iframes apply.

In addition, when you are using the WebBrowser control in a Silverlight application in full-screen mode, the WebBrowser is not interactive. For more information about full-screen mode see Full-Screen Support.

Examples

The following example shows a WebBrowser with its Source property set to an HTML page. In a button event handler, the WebBrowser source is changed to a different HTML page by calling the Navigate(Uri) method. The host Silverlight application must be running in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser application or in a Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted application for this example to function correctly.

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
    ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
    WB1.Navigate(New Uri("https://localhost/HTMLPage2.htm"))

private void Button1_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{
    WB1.Navigate(new Uri("https://localhost/HTMLPage2.htm"));

}
<TextBlock Text="WebBrowser Control" />
<WebBrowser Source="https://localhost/HTMLPage1.html" Height="160" Width="160" x:Name="WB1"/>
<Button Width="200" x:Name="Button1" Content="Click for HTML content" Click="Button1_Click"   />
