Interoperability Month Webcasts
Today saw the kick-off of the first web cast for "Interoperability Month", a month long series of web casts on Interoperability. I started the series with a 300 level talk on Web Services Interoperability. Overall, the session seemed to go well - attendance was great (one of the best I've seen for a live event) and the attrition rate was very low.
At the end of the Web cast I announced the availability of no fewer than 14 pre-recorded sessions that I've been working on over the last week or two. These are *now available* on the main Interoperability month site (https://www.interopmonth.com). Each of these pre-recorded sessions are about 15 - 25 minutes in length and covers a deep dive look into what it takes to acheive interoperability using Web Services and various platforms. These include:
IBM Platform Specific
Web Services Interoperability between Microsoft .NET Client and IBM WebSphere Application Developer 5.1.2 Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between IBM WebSphere Application Developer 5.1.2 Client and Microsoft .NET Web Service
Web Services Interoperability using Microsoft WSE 2.0 to send Web Services messages over IBM WebSphere MQ 5.3.
BEA Platform Specific
Web Services Interoperability between BEA WebLogic 8.1.3 Client and Microsoft .NET Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between Microsoft .NET Client and BEA WebLogic 8.1.3 Web Service
Other Java
Web Services Interoperability between Sun JWSDP 1.5 Client and Microsoft .NET Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between Microsoft .NET Client and Sun JWSDP 1.5 Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between Apache Axis 1.2 Client and Microsoft .NET Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between Microsoft .NET Client and Apache Axis 1.2 Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between Microsoft .NET Client and Systinet Server 5.0 Web Service
Web Services Interoperability between Systinet Developer 5.0 Client and Microsoft .NET Web Service
Interoperability using WS-Security
WS-Security Interoperability between Microsoft WSE 2.0 and Sun JWSDP 1.5
WS-Security Interoperability between Microsoft WSE 2.0 and BEA WebLogic 8.1.3
WS-Security Interoperability between Microsoft WSE 2.0 and Systinet Server 5.0
So, how do you get to view these?
1. First, register on https://www.interopmonth.com - select the sessions that you are interested in when you create your profile. The pre-recorded sessions are marked in red.
2. Login using the account you create (Microsoft passport is also supported).
3. Your selected sessions will appear in the "Your Selected Webcasts" list to the left of the page. Simply click on the web cast to view the session.
Note: These files are WMV format, and relatively large - you'll be able to start watching the video straight away, but to navigate through the video I've found that you need to wait until the complete WMV file is downloaded.

Simon published (among others) three web casts showing interoperability between Systinet and .NET. Two web casts show Systinet client talking to .NET web services and .NET client talking to Systinet service. The third one shows an advanced interoperability topic: WS-Security between WSE and Systinet. Great job, Simon!...
