Parameters

identity
IdentityReference

The user or group the rule applies to. Must be of type SecurityIdentifier or a type such as NTAccount that can be converted to type SecurityIdentifier.

eventRights
EventWaitHandleRights

A bitwise combination of EventWaitHandleRights values specifying the rights allowed or denied.

type
AccessControlType

One of the AccessControlType values specifying whether the rights are allowed or denied.

Exceptions

eventRights specifies an invalid value.

type specifies an invalid value.

identity is null.

-or-

eventRights is zero.

identity is neither of type SecurityIdentifier nor of a type such as NTAccount that can be converted to type SecurityIdentifier.

Remarks

To wait on an EventWaitHandle (by calling the WaitOne, WaitAny or WaitAll method), a user must have EventWaitHandleRights.Synchronize access. To signal an event by calling the Set method, or to reset it to the unsignaled state by calling the Reset method, a user must have EventWaitHandleRights.Modify access. To signal an EventWaitHandle object and then wait on it by calling the SignalAndWait method, a user must have Synchronize and Modify access.

Examples

The following code example demonstrates the use of this constructor to create EventWaitHandleAccessRule objects. The example creates an EventWaitHandleSecurity object, adds rules that allow and deny various rights for the current user, and displays the resulting pair of rules. The example then allows new rights for the current user and displays the result, showing that the new rights are merged with the existing Allow rule.

Note

This example does not attach the security object to a EventWaitHandle object. Examples that attach security objects can be found in EventWaitHandle.GetAccessControl and EventWaitHandle.SetAccessControl.

Remarks

To wait on an EventWaitHandle (by calling the WaitOne, WaitAny or WaitAll method), a user must have EventWaitHandleRights.Synchronize access. To signal an event by calling the Set method, or to reset it to the unsignaled state by calling the Reset method, a user must have EventWaitHandleRights.Modify access. To signal an EventWaitHandle object and then wait on it by calling the SignalAndWait method, a user must have Synchronize and Modify access.

This constructor is equivalent to creating an NTAccount object, by passing identity to the NTAccount.NTAccount(String) constructor, and passing the newly created NTAccount object to the EventWaitHandleAccessRule(IdentityReference, EventWaitHandleRights, AccessControlType) constructor.
