Examples

The following example demonstrates how to use the PageCount property to determine the total number of records displayed in the control.

<%@ Page language="C#" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<script runat="server">

  void EmployeeFormView_DataBound(Object sender, EventArgs e)
  {

    // Get the pager row.
    FormViewRow pagerRow = EmployeeFormView.BottomPagerRow;

    // Get the Label controls that display the current page information
    // from the pager row.
    Label pageNum = (Label)pagerRow.Cells[0].FindControl("PageNumberLabel");
    Label totalNum = (Label)pagerRow.Cells[0].FindControl("TotalPagesLabel");

    if ((pageNum != null) && (totalNum != null))
    {
      // Update the Label controls with the current page values.
      int page = EmployeeFormView.PageIndex + 1;
      int count = EmployeeFormView.PageCount;

      pageNum.Text = page.ToString();
      totalNum.Text = count.ToString();
    }

  }

</script>

    </form>
  </body>
</html>

Remarks

When the paging feature is enabled (when the AllowPaging property is set to true), use the PageCount property to determine the total number of records in the underlying data source.

Note

Because the FormView control displays only one record at a time, this value corresponds to the total number of pages required to display every record in the data source. This value is not accurate until after data-binding occurs.

To determine the index of the current record from the underlying data source, use the PageIndex property.
