Chord Palette
The chord palette contains the chords that define a chordmap and its general mood. Use the palette as a quick source of chords that you have named and that have an underlying scale assigned to each chord. You are not restricted to using chords in the palette, but it is most convenient to set up the palette so that it contains appropriate chords for the chordmap you are working on. Chords in the palette can be copied to the Clipboard or dragged to the Signpost List or the Chord Path Window.
The default setup of the chord palette has a major triad built on every root pitch. You can customize the default palette so that it contains other chords on each root, such as all minor triads or all dominant seventh chords. You can also create a new chord palette containing chords built using pitches from a single, underlying scale of your choice. For more information, see Editing Chords in the Palette and Using the Chord Palette Command to Create a New Palette.
The following figure contains the default palette and examples of custom palettes you can create.
The root pitches in the palette are permanently set to the pitches of a chromatic scale spanning two octaves. The two octaves of chromatic pitches, 1C through 2B, are the only roots available. However, you can design a chord using pitches in a four-octave range and extending as much as two octaves above a root.
