Default New Band

Windows Media Encoder SDK banner art

The following illustration shows the default settings in the Band Editor Window for every new band that DirectMusic Producer creates.

Default new band

The default band has the following settings:

  • Of the available 999 PChannels, 16 are included in the band. The illustration shows the default names of the PChannels, which are the same as the numbers. However, these names may have been changed in another component. Names of PChannels are global throughout a project.
  • All PChannels are inactive, with properties shown in gray. This does not mean that the PChannels cannot be used; it means only that their existing properties will not be changed by the band. You can activate and deactivate selected properties in the band by using the PChannel Properties window.
  • PChannels 1 through 9 and 11 through 16 are assigned to play the General MIDI piano patch 1.
  • PChannel 10 is assigned to play a standard General MIDI drum set patch.
  • All PChannels are set to play without octave transposition or transposition by an interval.
  • Unified volume and pan controls for each PChannel are set at arbitrary values to make all buttons visible. When you drag a button, most properties for the PChannel become active.
