Use the DLS Conditions toolbar, shown here, to audition playback on a DLS-compatible synthesizers using different configurations. You might do this, for example, to hear what your content sounds like on an earlier version of the Microsoft Synthesizer that does not support DLS Level 2.

The drop-down list contains a default configuration for the Microsoft Synthesizer and any other compatible synthesizers installed on your system.

Note The selection in the drop-down list does not set the output port; it only sets the configuration of the port in use. Normally this is the default synthesizer set in the MIDI/Performance Options Dialog Box. To send output to another synthesizer, you must edit the audiopath used by PChannels in a segment. For more information, see Edit Synth Settings Dialog Box.

To create a new configuration, click the Add Conditions button, the leftmost button in the figure above. The Edit Configuration Dialog Box is displayed.

After you have added a configuration, it appears in the drop-down list. You can choose this configuration for audition at any time by selecting it in the list.

The middle button in the figure is the Delete Conditions button, which deletes the selected configuration.

To edit an existing configuration, select it and click the rightmost button, the Edit Conditions button. You cannot edit or delete the default configuration of a synthesizer, but you can view it by using this button.
