Edit Synth Settings dialog box

You cannot edit the settings for the Microsoft Synthesizer or any other synthesizer that supports output to DirectSound buffers. The only place to edit the settings for those synthesizers is in the MIDI/Performance Options Dialog Box. Conversely, settings in the MIDI/Performance Options dialog box only affect those synthesizers that support output to DirectSound buffers.

The dialog box contains the following settings:

  • Synth Name

Name of the synthesizer. This value is set by the driver and cannot be changed.

  • Voices Allocated

Number of individual voices the synthesizer can play at one time. The default number shown in the window is the maximum number of voices supported by the selected port. See Voice Allocation.

  • Enable Reverb

Enables the built-in reverb effect of the synthesizer. This option check box is available for synthesizers that provide reverb.

  • Enable Chorus

Enables the built-in chorus effect of the synthesizer. This option check box is available for synthesizers that provide chorus.

  • Sample rate

Samples per second in the final mix.
