Effects

Windows Media Encoder SDK banner art

Effects are modifications of sounds. They are applied to PCM data in buffers, and work by manipulating the sample values. Standard effects included with DirectMusic Producer include chorus, compressor, distortion, echo, flanger, gargle, environmental reverb, parametric equalizer, and Waves musical reverb. In addition, a file output effect can be placed on a buffer to send the data in that buffer to a file.

In addition to standard effects, you can use any other effect that has been implemented as a DirectX Media Object (DMO). The object must be installed on your development system as well as on any system where the content is played. The standard effects, other than file output, are installed as part of the DirectX run-time files and are automatically available to any application using DirectMusic.
