Embellishments
Embellishments are patterns, usually brief, that serve special roles in a style. A pattern designated as an embellishment is selected for playback only when the performance specifically requests an embellishment of its type. This might occur as the result of a marker in the Groove Track. It can also happen during transitions; for more information, see Transition Options: Transition Pattern.
An embellishment must be at least one measure in length, and usually is no more than two measures.
The following embellishment categories can be assigned to patterns in the Pattern Properties window in Style Designer. A pattern can belong to more than one category.
Intro
Short introductory phrase to begin the piece.
Fill
Short fill leading from one phrase to another.
Break
Short break where the rhythmic accompaniment halts so a small group of instruments, or a single instrument, can be heard.
End
Short phrase to conclude the piece.
Custom
One of up to 100 special categories that you can create. An embellishment of this type cannot belong to any other category.
Note The names of the embellishments, and the descriptions given here, represent typical usage but do not limit how you can choose to use the categories. Assigning a pattern to particular embellishment categories does not give it special properties or behavior other than tying it to playback commands.
