To enter notes in a sequence track or pattern, first maximize the editing window for the part. See Note Editing Windows.

In a pattern part, a row of 32 variation buttons appears at the top of the maximized editing window. Before inserting notes, you must activate one or more variations by selecting variation buttons.

Several methods are available for inserting a note:

  • Place the Insertion Marker by clicking on or near the desired location of the note. Adjust the marker's location by using the arrow keys. Press the INSERT key.
  • While pressing the CTRL key, click the desired location of the note.
  • Right-click the desired location of the note. The insertion marker is placed, and a shortcut menu is displayed. Click Insert Note.

When you enter a new note, it is selected and highlighted in red. The insertion marker moves to the next position.
