Insertion Marker
When you click in the maximized editing window of a sequence track in the Segment Designer module or a part display in Pattern Editor, an insertion marker is displayed, as shown in the following illustration:
The marker indicates the time and pitch where a note is entered when you use the Insert Note command or press the INSERT key. For more information, see Entering Notes by Using the Mouse and Computer Keyboard.
You can adjust the start time and pitch of the insertion marker by using the arrow keys. You can also change its pitch by clicking on either a piano key or the grand staff, depending on the current view of the editing window. In hybrid notation view, using the UP and DOWN arrows is the easiest way to set the pitch to a sharp; the position of the insertion marker does not change, but an accidental is displayed in front of it.
The insertion marker serves a different purpose than the Insertion Point. The insertion point only indicates the beginning beat and division where material is pasted and does not indicate pitch or vertical position of the pasted material. The insertion marker shows both the pitch and the length of the note you insert.
The exact horizontal placement and width of the insertion marker are determined by the Snap To setting.
