Project Management
Organizing your work into projects offers several advantages. You can place several components into a single project, and set the components to share data with one another. Several components in a project can share references to a single component that serves as a source of data. For example, a style file can serve as the source of musical material for several segments in a project. If you make changes to the style file, the changes are reflected in the segment that references it.
Note To be sure of preserving links between files, do not set a reference in one project to a component in a different project. Saving files to a network share is not recommended. .
Component files and their subcomponents are stored in a project folder, but are not contained in the project file itself. The project file, with an extension of .pro, contains information about the project and its components. The project file contains a pointer to the location where the various component files are stored. If you delete a component from the project folder, you remove the pointer to the component. The component is then removed from your computer hard drive.
