Segment Tab
The Segment tab, shown in the following figure, includes the segment's name and length, plus several playback settings.
The tab contains the following settings:
Name
Internal name of the segment. The same internal name appears in the project tree next to the internal icon of the segment. To modify the internal name, click the box and type a new name. The name is updated in the project tree as you type.
Length
Length of the segment, either in measures or in clock time, depending on the option selected in the Segment Length dialog box. For information about that dialog box, see To create a new segment.
If you shorten a segment, measures beyond the old length are deleted from the segment, including any chords, grooves, embellishments, or other commands that existed.
If you lengthen a segment, the added measures contain no new chords or other commands.
Start at
Point within the segment where it will start playing. Normally this is the beginning of the segment (bar 1, beat 1, grid 1, tick 0), but you might want a segment to begin playing at some other point by default. This setting affects only the beginning of playback for a segment. If the segment is set to loop, playback will loop to the beginning of the segment, unless you have set a different start point for looping.
Use TimeSig of Track Group
Track group that provides the time signature for purposes of calculating the segment's length in measures, and loop points. This setting has no effect at run time.
Extend Primary TimeSig
If selected, the start time is aligned with the most recently played time signature, even if no primary segment is now playing.
Play on new instance of embedded audiopath
Available only for segments that have an embedded audiopath in the project tree. If the check box is selected, the segment plays on a new instance of that audiopath. If it is not, the segment plays on the audiopath selected in the Audiopath List. For more information, see Embedding an Audiopath in a Segment. In applications, a new instance is always created when the segment is played on the embedded audiopath.
