Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:

  • You have read the topic Import user profiles.

  • Your system is running either the Standard or Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Important

Administrators must have access to the Shared Services Provider (SSP) administration site, and must have the Manage User Profiles permission enabled to complete this procedure.

You can edit the values for properties in individual user profiles. The changed values for user profiles are used for personalization features that rely upon properties in the user profile, like searches and content targeted by properties in the user profile. If the property is mapped to a data source such as a property in directory services, the value is replaced with the imported value the next time user profiles are imported. For this reason, administrators typically edit only properties that are not mapped to data sources.

To edit a user profile

Use the following procedure to edit a user profile.

Delete user profile

  1. On the Shared Services Administration Home page, in the User Profiles and My Sites section, click User profiles and properties.

  2. On the User Profiles and Properties page, in the Profiles and Import Settings section, click View user profiles.

  3. On the View User Profiles page, click the account name for the user profile that you want to edit, and then click Edit on the menu.

  4. On the user profile, type a new value for one or more properties.

  5. Click Save and Close.
