Media Library (Compact 7)
3/12/2014
The Media Library is a COM API that you can use to manage media in applications. You can use the API to:
- Browse and search content on a server or physical storage device to import into the library.
- Add, modify, or remove media items in the library.
- Subscribe to a notification service that notifies registered applications when media items are added, removed or changed in the Media Library. Applications can choose to refresh their UI or take other actions to reflect the changes to the Media Library.
- The Media Library can interact with data sources on a server such as the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) Digital Media Server (DMS). The Media Library also interacts with data sources on the device such as local file system plug-ins.
- The Media Library also provides an extensible architecture so you can create plug-in modules that interact with different data sources, extend the database schema, and extend the file types that are supported by the library.
- To add this feature to your OS, see Media Library Catalog Items and Sysgen Variables.
- To define watched directories for the library, see Media Library Configuration File (MLConfig.XML)
For reference information, see Media Library Reference.
