How to Sequence Categories and Products

You can order your child products in a product family under any category. You can also sequence child categories under any category. You order your items based on the business needs. For example, if you want to remove your slower moving products, you can sequence them so that they appear at the top of the product list.

To sequence categories and products

  1. Click Start, point to Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 , and then click Catalog Manager.

  2. In Commerce Server Catalog Manager, in the Views pane, click Catalogs.

  3. In the Catalogs pane, select the catalog that contains the categories or products that you want to sequence.

  4. In the Task pane, click Sequence Products and Categories.

  5. In the Sequence Products and Categories screen, do the following:

    Use this

    To do this

    Parent

    View the parent category.

    You cannot edit this box.

    Select children

    Select from the following options:

    • Children. Select to order the child categories under the selected category.

    • Products. Select to order the products under the selected category.

    Sequencing Order

    To sequence the items, select the item you want to move, and then click Move Up or Move Down until the item is in the position you want. You can also use Move to Top or Move to Bottom to move the item to either the top or the bottom of the list.

    The order in which the items appear in the list is also the order in which they appear in the catalog.

  6. Click OK.
