Using Command-Line Administration Scripts

You can extend administrative control by using scripts to perform server administration tasks. You can use scripts to automate tasks, remotely administer sites and resources, and take advantage of batch files to create and manage objects. For additional information about using command lines, see the "Command-Line Reference" in Help and Support Center for Windows Server 2003.
Internet Information Services (IIS) contains eight supported command-line scripts that use the IIS Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider to configure and manage IIS metabase configurations. Microsoft supports the command-line scripts that are included in IIS, as long as the scripts are not modified. If you need to modify a supported script, you must save it under a new file name, leaving the original script unmodified.
