Firewall Rule Properties - Users and Computers

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

Authorized users and computers

Use these settings to specify which remote users or user groups or remote computers or computer groups can connect with the local computer.

The computer and user information is derived from the credential used by the connection security rule. The credentials must be either a Kerberos version 5 authentication protocol credential or a certificate with account mapping enabled.

Authorized computers

  • Inbound rules: Select Only allow connections from these computers and specify which computers can connect to this computer.

  • Outbound rules: Select Only allow connections to these computers and specify which computers this computer can connect to.

These computer accounts must be available in Active Directory Domain Services.

Authorized users

Select the Only allow connections from these users check box and specify which users can connect to this computer. These user accounts must be available in Active Directory Domain Services.

Note
