Change Queue Labels

You can use this procedure to change Message Queuing queue labels. Change Message Queuing queue labels to identify one or more Message Queuing queues.

Membership in the local Administrators group or equivalent is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To change Message Queuing queue labels

  1. Click Start, point to Run, type compmgmt.msc, and press ENTER to display the Computer Management MMC console.

  2. In the console tree, right-click the applicable queue.

    Where?

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Message Queuing/YourQueueFolder (Public Queues or Private Queues)/YourQueue
  3. Click Properties.

  4. On the General page, in Label, type the new label for the queue.

Additional considerations

  • A queue label is a string with a maximum length of 124 Unicode characters that can be used to identify the queue. For example, queues that accept messages sent by a specific application may all have the label "Messages from my application."
