Enable Copilot for Sales licenses
The new Copilot for Sales license brings together the power of Microsoft 365 Copilot and sales-specific insights. The result is a "better together" experience across Microsoft 365 applications, such as Outlook, Word, and Teams.
To enable Copilot for Sales licenses, you must complete these steps:
- Assign a Copilot for Sales license to each user.
- Deploy the Copilot for Sales app to users.
- Validate that licenses are assigned to users, and that the correct app is installed in Outlook.
Assign Copilot for Sales licenses to users
A Copilot for Sales license must be assigned to each user from the Microsoft 365 admin center. To assign licenses to users, you must be assigned an appropriate Microsoft 365 admin role such as license admin or user admin.
For detailed instructions, see Assign licenses to users.
Deploy the Copilot for Sales app
For Outlook and Microsoft 365 integration capabilities, the new Copilot for Sales enhanced Teams app must be deployed to users through the Microsoft 365 admin center. For Teams integration capabilities, the app must be deployed through the Teams admin center. The enhanced Teams app includes the necessary integration for Microsoft 365 Copilot integration.
For instructions for Dynamics 365, go to Copilot for Sales deployment guide for Dynamics 365 customers.
For instructions for Salesforce, go to Copilot for Sales deployment guide for Salesforce CRM customers.
Note
- If Copilot for Sales was deployed before February 2024, you must deploy the enhanced Teams app to enable the full capabilities of the product.
- Ensure that an admin deploys the Copilot for Sales app by using the instructions in the preceding links. If system users install the app directly in Outlook, it won't have the required permissions for all supported scenarios.
Validate the app installation
After the app is deployed, validate that the correct license is assigned to each user, and that the correct app is installed in Outlook.
License validation
In Outlook, open the Copilot for Sales pane.
Select Options (…) in the upper-right corner, and then select Diagnostics.
Under Client version, ensure that "(Premium)" is appended to the value. This text indicates that the user has the correct license, and the app is installed correctly.
App validation
To ensure that you deployed the enhanced Teams app, check for the new integration that it provides in Outlook. One of the new features is the Teams personal app. For this app, Home and Settings tabs are available in Outlook and other Microsoft 365 apps.
In Outlook, select More Apps on the left navigation bar, and then search for and select Copilot for Sales.
When the personal app is opened, it should have Home and Settings tabs. If it does, the enhanced Teams app is correctly deployed and installed.
