Chordmap Designer Window
Open a chordmap in the Chordmap Designer window by double-clicking the chordmap's component icon in the project tree.
The following figure shows the components of the Chordmap Designer window.
The window consists of the following main elements:
-
Signpost chords are the primary chords that define the structure of a chordmap. A chord must be in the Signpost list in order for DirectMusic Producer to recognize and use it at a signpost group marker when generating new chord progressions in a segment.
-
In this window you define all possible paths between signpost chords.
-
The chord palette is a collection of chords that can be dragged into the chord path window. It is comparable to a painter's palette. Just as the colors included in a palette affect the mood or emotional impact of a painting, the chords in the chord palette define the mood of the chordmap. You can use a custom palette containing chords you design, a palette containing chords based on a scale, or the default palette containing all major triads. The palette is for convenience only; you are not restricted to using these chords.
