Playing Motifs

A motif is created in a style. Unlike a style pattern, however, a motif can be isolated and played independently of the style that contains it.

While working in DirectMusic Producer, you can select a motif as a component in the Secondary Segment Toolbar and play it as a secondary segment. A motif can also be used by an application as if it were a segment file. An application retrieves a motif from a style by its name, as set in the Motif Properties window.

If a motif does not have its own band, it plays using whatever PChannel settings were last applied by another band.
