Segment Key Changes and Chordmaps

After you compose a chord progression using a chordmap, you can use the segment key to adjust the playback with 2C as a center point. Do this by moving the segment key up or down from 2C. In this way, you can experiment with different keys while you decide which key suits the segment as it mixes the style or pattern notes with the chords in a chordmap.

The key setting in a segment is included in its Segment Properties window.

The segment's key setting transposes all the chords imported from a chordmap. However, only the data stored in the segment is affected—the original chordmap file is not transposed or altered. If you change the segment key from 2C before using the Compose Chords Button, chords are imported from the chordmap in their original key.

When you change the key of a segment, all chords in the segment are affected. For example, placing a D major chord in the chord track while the segment key is set to C produces music in the key of D. If you change the template key to Eb, a minor third higher, the music plays in F. This is true for chords that are placed in the segment when you click the Compose Chords button, and for any chords you insert manually into the Chord Track using the mouse.
