Selecting Notes

Several operations in Note Editing Windows, including copying to the Clipboard, changing note properties of notes, and Quantizing, affect all selected notes. By default, selected notes are red and unselected notes are blue. You can change these colors in the Part Properties window.

The following methods can be used to select notes:

  • To select a single note, click it.
  • To select multiple notes, hold the CTRL key while clicking.
  • To select a range of notes, hold the SHIFT key and click the first and last notes in a series. All notes within the time and pitch range of the first and second notes are selected.
  • To select all notes in a region, hold down the left mouse button and drag a rectangle around the notes.

In addition, you can select ranges of notes in note editing windows, including notes in several parts simultaneously, by selecting the part strips and dragging on the timeline. For more information, see Selecting Regions in Segments and Patterns.

To cancel all selections, click an empty space in the editing region.
