Troubleshoot a Connection to a Device That Uses Connectivity Manager (Compact 7)

When you attempt to establish a connection to a Windows Embedded Compact powered device using Connectivity Manager, you may encounter connectivity issues.

If issues arise when you try to connect to a device with Connectivity Manager, consult the following table for possible solutions.

Description Steps to Check

Kernel Independent Transport Layer (KITL) transport not connecting to the device.

  • Check that you have KITL Transport and KITL Bootstrap selected in the Connectivity Manager settings.
  • Check that your OS design supports KITL.

TCP transport not connecting to the device.

  • Check that you have TCP Connect Transport and TCP Bootstrap selected in the Connectivity Manager settings.
  • Check that your OS design supports TCP/IP.
  • Check that your device and development computer are on the same network subnet.
  • Check that you are running the TCPBootstrapA.exe program on the device.
  • Check that you double-clicked the device name when selecting the device in the TCP bootstrap settings.
