Remote Tool Connectivity (Compact 7)

3/12/2014

The Windows Embedded Compact 7 remote tools provide the ability to perform numerous tasks on a Windows Embedded Compact powered device from a development computer. You can use the remote tools to tune, debug, and gather information from a device. You can also change the way in which the remote tools connect to a device by changing the remote tools connectivity transport options.

The remote tools use a two-part communication infrastructure to manage communication between a development computer and a device. The Windows Embedded Compact Core Connectivity infrastructure (CoreCon) enables communication between a development computer and a device whereas the remote tools Connectivity Manager enables application-level connectivity between an application on a development computer and a device. The combination of the two technologies enables remote tools to connect to a device in a media-independent manner.

Note

The Core Connectivity infrastructure replaces Connectivity Manager for all Core Connectivity needs other than remote tools.
